About The Artist
Salita Armour infuses her art with the joy she finds in life, bringing animals to the forefront of her vibrant, dynamic compositions. Her paintings celebrate movement, energy, and the beauty of the natural world, inviting viewers into a realm of bold colors and expressive forms.
Born into a family of artists, Salita’s creativity runs deep. With generations of her family manufacturing paint (Bellgrove and Snell), artistic expression is in her blood.
Originally from South Africa, Salita earned a Bachelor of Fine Art (Honors) from Rhodes University in 1979 before moving to the U.S. in 1980. Inspired by the landscapes around her, she has always found solace in nature—hiking with her dogs, trail riding, and exploring the wilderness. After many years in the Pacific Northwest, she now calls Santa Fe home, where the high desert’s rugged beauty fuels her artistic vision.
Her deep love for animals and nature shines through in every piece, capturing the spirit of the wild with bold, expressive strokes and a rich, lively palette.
Salita is currently painting at Ocean Studios in Royal William Yard, Plymouth, England. Inspired by the city's stunning oceanscapes and rich historical architecture, she explores these elements as the focal point of this chapter in her artistic journey.
